Make it for game night! This recipe was crafted to help set the theme for:

Ingredients

  • 1 container frozen pineapple orange juice concentrate (12 ounces)
  • 16 ounces cold water
  • 2 liters of Sprite
  • 2 cups of pineapple rum (we like to use Cruzan)
  • 1 cup of Kraken (or your favorite black spiced rum)
  • 8 oz. sweetened lime juice (Rose's, or similar)
  • Dry ice, for serving (approx. 1 lb)

Directions

1. Move your pineapple orange juice concentrate from the freezer to the refrigerator and allow to thaw for 1 hour.

2. In a large punch bowl*, combine your semi-thawed juice concentrate with 8 ounces of cold water and whisk until thoroughly combined. Ensure the juice concentrate is completely dissolved and there are no frozen chunks remaining.

TIP: Since we'll be adding dry ice to this punch, we recommend a plastic, metal, or tempered glass punch bowl to avoid risk of shattering under extreme temperature changes.

3. Stir in the remaining 8 ounces of water, along with the Sprite, both rums, and the sweetened lime juice.

TIP: For a boozier punch, you can use up to 2 cups of Kraken.

4. Once your punch ingredients have been thoroughly combined, it's time for the fun part—dry ice! Please read these important safety disclosures before continuing. If you are not comfortable handling dry ice, simply omit this step and chill your punch with regular ice.

DRY ICE SAFETY NOTICE: Dry ice is a fun way to create a "living fog" effect that's perfect for an eerie pirate punch or a spooky Halloween shindig, but it's important to take proper precautions. Dry ice is a dangerous material and needs to be handled with extreme caution. Here are some dos and don'ts when working with dry ice:

  • Do not touch dry ice with bare hands. Use insulated gloves or tongs to avoid severe frostbite and tissue damage.
  • Do not ingest dry ice. It's extremely cold and can cause severe intestinal damage or even death, if swallowed. Ensure your guests all know not to touch or ingest the dry ice.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around your dry ice. Store and use only in well-ventilated areas to prevent dangerous levels of carbon dioxide gas buildup, which can cause suffocation.
  • Keep away from children and pets. Never leave dry ice unattended or within reach of pets, children, or anyone who is not aware of or equipped to handle dry ice appropriately.
  • Do not seal in airtight containers. Carbon dioxide buildup from dry ice can cause sealed containers to explode.

With insulated gloves on, carefully use tongs to place the dry ice in your punch bowl (if the 1lb. block is too large for your punch bowl, you can wrap your ice block in a large towel and use a hammer to carefully break it into a few smaller chunks). As soon as the dry ice comes into contact with the punch, voila!— it will begin evaporating and produce a heavy fog-like effect that will roll over the sides of your punch bowl, creating a spooky fog over your punch that helps set the scene for a deep-sea mystery.

Reminder: Ensure each and  every one of your guests knows not to touch or ingest dry ice. We strongly suggest placing signage near your punch bowl as a continuous reminder for all your sea-faring friends' safety.
